About 'The Echo Chamber'

This interactive project explores how algorithms shape what we see and believe in the ever developing online world.

Every day, social media personalises our screens, filling us with content that algorithms think we want to see, is there a way to escape the online bubble so many of us are in?

The Creator

Molly Williams

Hi, I'm Molly Williams, a Journalism, PR and media student at Sheffield Hallam University, with a strong interest in digital culture and the transformation of the way technology makes us consume information. I created the Echo Chamber as part of my final year applied project, which has combined research with interactive design and storytelling to investigate the impact of algorithms on peoples thought processes and beliefs. I am particularly interested in how media shapes political perception, and how users can become more aware of the processes behind what they see online.
